Tastebuds (and ribs) will be tickled in a tantalising exploration of food for the very young. One little baby is about to discover the joys of food. And what a feast is in store. There’s bacon and bananas, carrots and corn, potatoes and porridge, and so much more. From breakfast time to lunchtime, dinnertime to party time, there are so many different tastes and textures to discover. Little fingers cannot wait to dive in but is mum ready for the mess? Food is so much fun and not just to eat… I vividly remember my now seven-year-old niece exploring the joys of food and judging by the aftermath of feeding times it appeared that most of it ended up in her hair, down on the floor or plastered on anyone unlucky enough to be within firing range. The star of You’ve Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils elicits many of the same traits as my niece, our young protagonist exploring all manner of foods with excitement and eagerness during one very tasty day and leaving a yummy trail of food chaos in their path. Very relatable for parents and children alike, this authentic and funny look at one aspect of parenthood dishes up a scrumptious celebration of food alongside the joys and mess of learning to feed oneself. With so many different foods, children will love identifying those that they have already tried and will no doubt find some things to explore for the first time.
A feast for the eyes and the ears, it is perfect for sharing together and reading aloud. Bethany’s bouncy rhyming prose whisk readers along on a mouthwatering adventure with Sara’s warm illustrations capturing the joys of baby as they munch their way towards a funny and surprising ending. Fun, feel-good reading that is sure to leave tummies rumbling. Recommended for 2+.
