Democracy rules on Pear Tree Farm. The animals voted for who baked the best cakes, they voted for who was the best dancer and when it came to Christmas they sensibly voted with a resounding NO. Timmy Turkey would love Christmas to come to the farm but it is impossible. Not one to give up, he starts a cheer-filled campaign for Christmas. But which way will the animals vote on Christmas Eve? Will Timmy’s fellow turkeys call fowl play? And can they stay out of the clutches of Farmer Carver who is on his own merry mission… A new one for me and what an absolute hoot as Timmy Turkey turns NO, NO, NO into HO, HO, HO. Definitely one of the more quirky festive reads out there; I can only imagine the scenes when the the brilliantly bonkers idea was pitched to the publishers. Thankfully, they voted yes and here we are, who could have predicted a turkey campaigning for Christmas could be so much fun. Totally original (I guarantee that you’ll have read nothing like it before), The Turkey That Voted for Christmas promises laughs, scenes to make you smile, surprises galore and one highly amusing robin to spot. Politics and family drama may not seem like the obvious ingredients for a Christmas picture book yet it all works brilliantly and there’s an abundance of entertainment here to have everyone smiling.
Fresh and funny, warm and witty, ’tis the perfect seasonal read served with a nice side of the importance of seeing things from another’s point of view. I vote Timmy Turkey for Prime Minister! Recommended for 5+.
