I love Hervé Tullet’s books! Toddlers are always completely captivated by his creations as they press, mix, tip, trace and do whatever else he asks of them on whimsical adventures through his creative world.
Fingers and hands at the ready, it’s time for a dance. A wiggle, a tap and a slide to kick things off. Now some jumping, leaping and bouncing. Keep it elegant! How about some graceful twirling and weaving and skating? Speed it up then slow it down. Almost time for the big finale. That’s it, your done, show’s over. Accept the applause, take a bow and then back to the start to do it all again…
It is brilliant to be back in the wonderful land of Hervé Tullet as he dazzles once again with another delightful interactive book, leading readers on a carefully choreographed and energy-filled journey of tricolour and movement. Hands and fingers will steal the show as they take to the dance floor and party like never before with expert conductor Tullet leading the perfect finger-hand boogie.
Imagination and creativity ooze from every word, line, dot and swirl here. Beginning in a simple way, energy and complexity steadily increase as readers are asked to use their hands and fingers to create more intricate movements. Like all of Tullet’s books, this is another masterclass in entertainment whilst encouraging the development of instructional following, co-ordination, dexterity and both fine and gross motor control.
Presented in hardback, the over-sized pages invite children to place whole hands and fingers onto them and being lovely and thick they are sure to withstand hours of exploration. Brilliant for toddlers and sure to bring smiles and giggles to all ages as hands and fingers wiggle and waggle, tap and trace, skim and skate, fly and flutter, jump and jive, bounce and bop, twist and twirl their way through this merriest of dances.
This is interactive play at its absolute best and busy little hands will be delighted. Who needs an iPad when you can have one of Hervé’s books? Recommended for 2+. With huge thanks to Allen & Unwin for the copy I received in exchange for an honest review.
