Introducing your new favourite dinosaur…Rainbowsaurus. There’s a Rainbowsaurus to be found but where could it be? One excited family is determined to find it. And they’re not the only ones who are looking for the elusive and special dinosaur. A turkey, a sheep, a bear, a snake and even a pig are searching for it. But where is the Rainbowsaurus… Everyone is invited to join the hunt for the most dazzling of dinosaurs in this vibrant and joyful read aloud. Full of all the colours of the rainbow, lots of recognisable animals and the noises they make, and an inclusive family, Rainbowsaurus is a riot of colour and fun. The story begins with the family of five - two dads and their three children - climbing on to the rainbow that will guide their journey. The party grows in number as a mooing cow, ribbiting frog, quacking duck, hee-hawing donkey and a host of others join the search. Of course, the Rainbowsaurus is found, or rather it finds them, in a wholesome and feel good ending. Eye-catching visuals - the rainbow colours pop against a white background - and simple text make for a really engaging and interactive reading experience. Along with learning the colours of the rainbow, young ones will love making the animal noises and chanting the refrain, ‘Rainbowsaurus, where are you?’ that is repeated throughout.
Having all kinds of families represented in picture books is vital and Rainbowsaurus supports children in understanding that families can look different to their own and that diversity is something that should be accepted, celebrated and viewed as perfectly normal. Sure to become a staple at bedtime. Bright, bold and brilliant! Recommended for 2+. With huge thanks to Hachette for the copy I received in exchange for an honest review.
