I love David Wiesner books. They are full of creativity, fabulous illustrations and really spark imagination. The Three Pigs is the winner of the Caldecott Medal and readers who think they know the plot of this traditional tale are in for a bit of a surprise.

The big bad wolf is up to his usual tricks and no pig or home is safe. But when the wolf underestimates the power of his own puff he blows one little piggy right out of the story. And a free little piggy isn’t one to waste the chance of an adventure. The story of the The Three Little Pigs will never be the same again…

This is a very funny retelling of the traditional tale of the The Three Little Pigs. The story starts off as you would expect with the the wolf visiting the homes of the pigs. The wolf though has more puff than he thinks and after blowing the first little pig out of the story the pigs embark on a madcap adventure through different fairytales and use their imaginations to change the predictable and familiar story. The illustrations are what take centre stage in the story. The 2D illustrations at the beginning are replaced by wonderful 3D artwork as the pig gets blown out of the narrative.

Great fun as the three pigs take control of their own story and encourage the reader to put their fate, future and destiny into their own hands.
