Three hungry kittens are dancing across the rooftops on a wild and windy night. The mother doesn’t have any food to ease their hunger but she can tell them a story. A story about Smallpaw…

Smallpaw the kitten has everything a kitten should need; somewhere warm to sleep and a kind owner. But Smallpaw wants more. Smallpaw wants stories like the stray cats that live outside. Overcome with boredom Smallpaw steps out into the dark night and learns that it just takes a little bit of courage to make your own story.

In the story Smallpaw learns about courage, hope and the importance of friendship. After the events that unfold readers see the importance of being kind and sharing.

There are two stories within this story but don’t worry as each is written in a different font. Cressida Cowell’s words are accompanied by smudged pencil illustrations by Mark Nicholas which will help readers follow the story.

A lovely tale about courage, being brave and stepping out of your comfort zone. One that cat-lovers will delight in.
