The first in an utterly delightful new series from Ailsa Wild about a cheeky and loveable pixie. Everyone loves pixies and there could be one living in your garden. You’d have to look very closely though as they’re smaller than a dandelion and happily skip amongst the blades of glass.
Jenifry Star is a pixie who lives in the Pixie Woods along with her Nana. More than anything Jenifry wants a friend, her one-hundred-year-old grandmother and her even older aunts are not the best of playmates. The delightful visits of Kipsy-cat and Robyn Red are welcomed but they don’t offer the same kind of fun a human friend could. School is the perfect place to meet lots of little humans but is a pixie at school such a good idea? Jenifry is determined to find out…
This is such a fun magical adventure that flits between the real world and the hidden world of pixie’s. The fun really starts when Jenifry enters the human world. She quickly learns that trying to fit in with the humans at school isn’t easy when you are a pixie, especially when pixie magic might happen at any moment.
There are plenty of sweet and funny moments as Jenifry tries to navigate and understand a world that is so completely different to her own. She must quickly learn the school rules, make friends with the little humans, avoid being pickled in a jar by the big humans and keep her pixie magic hidden. Plenty of challenges for one little pixie!
The use of different fonts will appeal to young readers as will the charming illustrations by Saoirse Lou that help to break up the text. A bonus page of pixie themed stickers are included at the back of the book.
