I used to love an activity book when I was child. Searching for an exciting activity with mum or dad and then heading off to do it. Truth be told, I still love an activity book now. And The Nature Adventure Book is a splendid practical non-fiction book that is crammed full of must-do activities for all little nature lovers!

It’s time to head outdoors and embrace nature. There’s no end of things to do in the garden, in the woods, at the park, around the pond or at the beach. You’ll find ponds to dip in, trees to hug, sticks to collect, flowers to smell, puddles to splash in, mud to paint with and so much more. Come rain, shine, snow or wind, there’s something to do whatever the weather in the great outdoors…

Written by a primary school teacher and Forest School leader, The Nature Adventure Book is a fabulous collection of tried and tested activities that will be cherished by parents who want exciting and fun outdoor activities to do with their children and will be loved by children as they play, craft and observe their way through the wonderful world of nature.

Grouped under four main headings: Adventure Skills; Nature Detective; Wild Art; Sensory Games; are heaps of easy to do outdoor projects. From making a journey stick to building a bug hotel, creating wild masterpieces to taking time to tune into the senses, exploring trees to observing clouds, the activities are varied, rich and rewarding. Children (and adults) will find much enjoyment as they have fun, learn, and develop practical and life skills.

Each activity has clear step-by-step instructions, an equipment list and lots of colourful illustrations as well as photographs. Where an activity promotes mindfulness this is indicated by a happy cloud and warnings are indicated by an exclamation mark inside a red triangle. In addition to the activities, scientific concepts and some further explanations are given, ones of note being tree shapes, the life cycle of a frog and cloud formations.

With so much to do, children and adults will find themselves going back to this book time and time again. I absolutely adore it! It is a superb resource for getting children outdoors and exploring the wonderful world of nature.
