The Goblin Princess: The Grand Goblin Ball; Jenny O'Connor, illustrated by Kate Willis-Crowley31/3/2021
The Goblin Princess is back for a second outing and you are invited to join her at the Grand Goblin Ball - a party like no other!
The goblin royal family, along with Mrs. Dollop, are incredibly busy preparing the Goblin Castle for the Grand Goblin Ball. Dust has been spread, cobwebs hung and everything has been coated in a wonderful layer of grime. All that’s needed now are the guests. Upset at not being invited, the hobgoblins are busy preparing too…preparing to ruin the royal party! The fairies have warned the Goblin Princess that the hobgoblins are up to no good but can she, the fairies and sprightly frog of Mystery and Magic, Dave, save the day…
Everyone likes a good party and they don’t come more delightfully disgusting than the one hosted by the goblin royal family. The guests are disgustingly dressed and children will be laughing out loud at the food options. Anyone fancy worm pasties, spider-leg sandwiches, slime stew, maggot pies and wobbling frogspawn jellies? Full of unlikely heroes, vile villains, secret passages, magic and with messages on friendship and family, children will love joining the goblin princess as she attempts to stop the hobgoblins from ruining the party and committing the worst crime of all…cleaning and decorating the Goblin Castle!
Gorgeous illustrations accompany the story and each page is an absolute treat. The use of a pond green colour for the pages of the book is inspired - the perfect choice for a book about goblins. Recommended for 5+.
