Squishy McFluff and Ava are back in an utterly charming seaside adventure with just a spot of peril.
Ava is excited. It is July, the sun is shining and it is time for a holiday to the beach! There’s sand to dig, sea to splash in, ice-creams to eat and rock-pools to search. But what will happen when Squishy McFluff gets into a spot of bother and finds himself drifting out to sea? Will Squishy float away and be lost forever or can Ava come up with a plan…
Trips to the seaside are always so much fun and this adventure to the beach with Ava and her invisible cat Squishy McFluff is sure to be a hit with young readers. This is the fifth book in the series which I absolutely love and the duo are up to their usual tricks, having fun and causing mayhem and mischief.
When Squishy McFluff is lost to the ocean, it appears that it might be the end. Dad quips that Ava simply reimagine Squishy back to the safety of the beach but luckily mum offers a more sympathetic approach and shows that parents will go to any lengths for their children as she goes out of her way to rescue Squishy McFluff.
Pip Jones adds her wonderful rhyming prose to another everyday experience that will leave readers grinning from ear to ear. The illustrations from Ella Okstad are, as always, an absolute treat. They are full of warmth and charm.
