Finn remembers when his grandfather would tell him stories about a place where the ocean meets the sky and would say to him, “It’s a good day for sailing.” Sadly, his grandfather is no longer living and to honour his 90th birthday, Finn builds a boat and sets off to find the place where the ocean meets the sky...

This is the heartfelt story of a young boy’s magical and fantastical journey to a place he has only ever heard of in stories. On his way to this place he will meet wondrous creatures and pass incredible islands. And when he gets to the place where the ocean meets the sky he finds something that he could not have imagined in his wildest dreams - a place where the spirit of his grandfather lives.

Ocean Meets Sky is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. The artwork in this book is gorgeous; a great golden moustachioed fish, the Library of Islands full of floating books and roosting birds, giant shells, and ships floating in the sky to name but a few. Readers could spend hours poring over the images and I certainly did.

Full of mystery and magic. A captivating read filled with beautiful illustrations that capture the grief and imagination of one young child.
