Magicat is another excellent read from Barrington Stoke that is purr-fect for snuggling up with during the Halloween festivities.

Jessie has always wanted a cat and gets her wish when one falls from the sky and lands in her best-friend Ali’s bucket whilst they are trick or treating. This is no ordinary cat, this is Magicat. A magical cat in training who has fallen off his witch’s broom and desperately needs to get back to Magic Land. Stuck far from his home and waiting for Wenna Witch to come and get him, Magicat is left staying with his new found friends and surely there’s nothing wrong with showing them a little bit of magic…

Fizzes with magic, mayhem and mischief as two friends, Jessie and Ali, make the most of having a new pet in their lives. Unfortunately, the adorable and over-confident Magicat is definitely still in need of a few more lessons at school as his spells are far from perfect and lead to hilarious and disastrous consequences - cooking pancakes is chaos before a shed is magicked into a treehouse and then the neighbourhood bully gets his comeuppance.

Barrington Stoke have a wonderful reputation for producing dyslexia friendly books and this title is printed in dyslexia friendly font and on cream paper ensuring the book can be accessed by every child and is particularly suited to reluctant or struggling readers. Illustrations by Richard Watson bring the action to life and mostly show Magicat causing mayhem and mischief with his misfiring spells!
