It’s summer and things are hotting up on Animal Boulevard. Hotel Flamingo is a hive of activity and new arrivals are keeping everyone busy. Royal guests are rare at the hotel so when Anna receives word that the King and Queen Penguin are coming to stay everyone is buzzing with excitement. But with a long list of royal requirements there’s plenty to get done and with the blazing summer sun getting everyone hot under the collar, will Anna be able to keep her cool and meet the needs of all her guests…
I love holidaying at the Hotel Flamingo. Its owner - the kind, friendly and high-spirited Anna Dupont - is always so welcoming and her team of animals are willing to do anything to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. In this second book, they face their biggest challenge yet as someone is up to no good and is determined to ruin the royal visit.
Excitement and mystery are in abundance throughout the story as one disaster after another strikes the hotel and the reputation of Hotel Flamingo looks set to be left in tatters. But it takes more than ruined royal red carpet, a broken air-conditioning system, a lack of ice and catering troubles to defeat Anna Dupont and her fabulous menagerie of staff. Perseverance, can-do-attitude and teamwork reign at Hotel Flamingo, and the quirky cast of hotel employees pull together like never before to prove that no problem cannot be overcome with hard-work and plenty of ingenuity.
The book is perfectly sized for smaller hands and the story, told over twenty short chapters, is great for those children that are new to chapter books and are building up their reading stamina. Plenty of illustrations help to break up the text and an additional challenge asks readers to spot an insect that has flown its way into twenty of the scenes.
Perfect reading in the summer sun!
