Fergal is back in a brand-new adventure and this time he is getting a baby sister. This should be fantastic for Fergal, but is new arrival Fern about to make Fergal turn fiery?
When Fergal gets a baby sister he is really not sure what to make of the situation. Everyone seems really happy with the arrival of Fern but Fergal is far from happy. He is feeling jealous, sad and worst of all…fiery. Fern plays with his things, she cries a lot and needs lots of attention. And she has spoiled a day out at the Flying Show by being poorly. Feeling unloved, unnoticed and unwanted, Fergal takes drastic action and runs away. Can a chat with dad convince Fergal that having a little sister can be a wonderful thing or is fiery Fergal going to be fuming with Fern forever…
This is another delightful read about my favourite fiery dragon with lots of important and life-affirming lessons for young readers. A new arrival in the family is a wonderful time but can also pose many challenges for the older sibling who suddenly finds themselves not the only little person in the household. Emotions and feelings come to the surface that they have perhaps never experienced before, and just like Fergal they struggle to understand things. Fergal shows readers that it is perfectly normal to have these feelings and that the best thing to do is to talk about how you feel with another family member. This fun and charming story features illustrations that are colourful and bright.
Perfect reading for any child who is experiencing a new arrival to the family and a story that will encourage readers to talk about the feelings that they often keep bottled up inside.
