This is the first in a series of adventures about squirrels Norma and Belly and you donut want to miss out on this most entertaining of graphic novels!
After burning their breakfast pancakes, Belly and Norma are stuck with boring chestnuts for breakfast. Or are they? The smell of donuts is in the air and that would be the perfect treat to satisfy a hungry squirrel. But the grumpy donut seller isn’t keen on trading donuts for chestnuts. Desperate for one of the sweet-smelling treats the squirrels come up with a plan. But can they break into the food truck, overcome an out of control donut making machine and avoid the grumpy donut seller…
Brilliant fun to be had in this ‘sweet’ heist that centres around two of the most adorable squirrels and their rib-tickling antics. Readers can expect madcap hijinks where invariably everything goes wrong in the most hilarious of ways with lovely messages on ingenuity, teamwork and problem-solving.
The story is presented over five short chapters and is told through minimal speech with the action carried by awesome illustrations filled with warmth and humour. The ever changing expressions on the faces of the squirrels are a delight as smiles turn to frowns, mouths open in shock and eyebrows get raised.
Think Mission Impossible with squirrels. Yes it sounds bonkers but it is brilliantly bonkers and Donut Feed the Squirrels offers up a wonderfully tasty and sweet read for newly independent readers. I’m off to get me a chestnut flavoured donut.
