The Phoenix Presents are my go-to graphic novels and this is another superb addition to their catalogue.
Some people seem intent on making the world a little bit worse for everyone else. Are you sick of stepping in people’s discarded chewing gum? Tired of seeing people throw their litter onto the streets? Frustrated by inconsiderate neighbours? Annoyed by the school bully? Worry no more, the wrongs of the world are about to be righted. Disguised as herself, Claire, Justice Ninja: Ninja of Justice, is on the case and is determined to sort her neighbourhood out…
In twelve short stories, Claire, along with apprentice justice ninja Nigel, deals with all manner or injustices at home, at school and out on the streets. No-one is safe from the Justice Ninja; bullies, parents, relatives, politicians, bus drivers, inconsiderate adults - upset Claire and you’ll find yourself on the end of her very personal brand of justice. Her methods may be unconventional, they’re not always ethical and are definitely not something I would encourage but sometimes this is what it takes to get people to realise their wrongs.
The scenarios play out in a familiar settings and the injustices that Claire deals with are highly relatable and are those that readers may experience themselves. Energetic Claire is passionate about what she does and her heart is very much in the right place - she is the kind of crime fighter that we can all get behind.
Brilliant fun and will be well received by junior activists and children who are tired of seeing others getting away with their misbehaving. Wrong-doers be warned…justice is about to be served.
