Paul du Pain works hard in his bakery in one of the poorest parts of Paris, getting up early each day to cook freshly baked bread and pastries for his regular customers. Every day at seven, Paul’s assistant Marie arrives to serve the customers. No-one knows quite why, but customers leave the bakery feeling much happier than when they entered. Could it be Paul’s crusty baguettes or his pain au chocolat that melt in your mouth? Or is it something else. When Marie leaves the bakery for good the happiness leaves with her, and Paul and his beloved dog Gracie are left feeling sad and miserable. Will happy days ever return to the bakery?

A warm and charming tale full of love, happiness and plenty of baked treats. The chapters are short and there are plenty of colourful illustrations.
