Archie is about to have the best day ever at the doggy daycare centre. The most famous pup in the world, Dion the Bichon Frise, is in town to film his brand new commercial. All the pups are excited to see Dion the pampered pooch. They’ve brushed their fur, gelled their whiskers and poofed their tails, and are all set for their shot at pup-stardom.
Unfortunately, Dion is a lot less friendly in real-life than he appears to be on TV and wants nothing to do with Archie and his not-so pup-star friends. But when disaster strikes on set and the star goes off in a pup-huff, can Archie and his friends save the day and become pup-stars?
Written in the form of a diary entry, this is a delightful read about a loveable Schnoodle called Archie and his wanna-be pup-star friends. It is packed full of doggy humour and plenty of pup-themed puns. Dog lovers will delight in Archie’s adventures and will be laughing out loud at the views of the world as seen through a dog’s eyes.
This is a lovely, accessible read for young readers. The pages are not overloaded with text and the text is nicely spaced out with the use of bold or larger fonts to make certain words and phrases stand out. The text is presented in a variety of ways including paragraphs, speech bubbles, annotated illustrations, lists and a cartoon strip. There are delightful illustrations on every page which are lighthearted and help to explain the story.
An enjoyable and perfectly pitched book for those readers that are taking their first reading steps into chapter books.
